Hello sirs, long time no post.
I finally got back into working on my trans-am and decided to try and hook up the cruise control today. I built some goofy Tee system to reconnect it to a vacuum source, and began tearing through wiring diagrams and using a multimeter. in 89 they used a VSS buffer, but in 90 they eliminated that by implementing it in the ECU (as most of you know). I found which wire goes from the buffer to the cruise control module, and hooked my 2000ppm connector from the ECU to it. Soldered it, and tested it - no noticeable resistance.
Yet, for some reason, the cruise control still doesn't work (imagine that). Does anyone have a pinout of the cruise control module, and the cruise control servo? I'm looking for a diagram with actual pin numbers, and what it does, and possibly wire colors (not necessary though, I understand GM doesn't always follow wire colors to a T). Hopefully I can diagnose the problem without having to keep trying modules and servos. Thanks in advance guys.

Also, did any year third gen come with an indicator light on the dash to show when the cruise was on?

I cant help with your wiring but I was wondering if your vacumn source to your cruise is manifold or ported?
I am trying to get my cruise to work as well, since the previous owner decide during an engine bay clean up that it along with the heater/ A/C and TCC were no longer needed.

Maybe this will help a bit.....................

Vacuum to the cruise module is manifold. For wiring diagrams you might try Mitchell on demand or All data. These services should be available on the computers at your local library.
C.W. - Thanks, but I've seen that already. I was hoping someone would have a connector diagram with pin numbers and what they do. I suppose I'll just have to spend a little extra time with my multimeter (heaven forbid). The local library doesn't have allDATA access. It seems every college that I am not enrolled at has allDATA access haha.
I know cruise isn't exactly necessary, but considering it's the only mechanical/electrical thing that doesn't work, I figure might as well. That, and it will help with my gas mileage competition. I'm at 26mpg (@ 80mph/avg) without highway mode enabled, and without touching spark tables, lets see if I can touch 30

Do anyone have the pinout of the 96 Cruise control module?

I just looked at Mitchell On demand and they have pretty good diagrams for cruise control on both 89 and 96. Their diagrams show circuit termination and pin identification. Im not sure if a college library would have Mitchell or not. When I was too poor to afford the subscription fee, I used to go to the public library and look up diagrams. The public library had both All Data and Mitchell. Of course that was in Multnomah County, Oregon. I dont know what other counties may or may not have.
