Mini starter

I got a 86 camaro, I just built a 383 stroker with 10:1 compression. I have a summit mini starter (SUM-829100) that i bought may 1, 2010 and I put it on the motor and it started the car the first time before it blew up. Now that I have rebuilt the 383 stroker by myself. I wasnt sure about how to put the distributor I called the guy who helped me built the motor the first time and he told me and he had me put the distributor out by about 90 to 130 degrees but before we noticed it we were cranking and cranking the car over to try and start it moving the distributor. Than by brother put a screw driver across the coil and than the start would spin but wouldn't throw the gear out to spin the flywheel so we figured the starter was overheated so we let it cool for about 30 mins and than want out to try it again and it tried starting the car and than started doing it again. than after calling it a night and me going out and trying to start it today I got the car to fire up and run but I shut it off to go get someone to help me time it and I tried turning the key one time after that it cranked and we moved the distributor back a little and it started just making the spinning noise again and we let it sit for about 3 hours and still doing the spinning thing.

Now here how my wires are: My battery is relocated in the trunk so summit told me to run the battery cable to the starter that put the wire on it from the wiring harness and run another wire from start to the alternator. Than I got the tiny wire running to ign. terminal its like blackish purple. Than on the alternator i have the wire from the starter and a orange wire on top of that and the wire the plugs into the alternator.

Does anyone have any ideas? Sorry its so long just trying to describe it the best i can.
