>Oil Pressure Guage at 0< on 91 GTA 5.7L
Hi everyone i am in need of some advice.
I have little to 0 oil pressure on my guage for my 1991 Pontiac GTA 5.7L
So a couple weeks ago i installed some UMI rear lower control arms/ and replaced both front and rear sway bar bushings and endlinks; *it was amazing how dissolved the enlinks were* so once i had finished installing these i went for a test drive
everything in my on my dash usually works fine accept for the gas gauge which is sometimes a bit laggy or slow. Also my check engine light comes on sometimes and if it does come on it goes away i checked it with the obd1 scan tool it game a code 34 or 43 *trying to remember of the top of my head lol* which was either a faulty ECM/ bad starter connection etc.
Anyway so i took my gta for a test spin out to the highway where i did a couple of animal crossing tests
and accleration back to the speed limit. I went back into town were i noticed my oil pressure guage was at almost 0 to 0 and when i hit the gas the pressure gauge did go up to maybe 1/8 pressure; BUT there was no crazy noises, smells or anything and the car seemed to run fine but i was panicing so i took my car home asap which was only a couple blocks away at the time; i lifted the hood to listen for wierd noise/ smell and it seemed fine.
So im thinking this may be the oil pick up? or the gauge itself is busted? Cause if the oil pump was broken i would should have been smelling burnt oil right? Is this a common thing for F body cars??
Also when the gauge was working it always was at about 1/2 pressure to just above 1/4 pressure on an extremlely hot day, and when crusing down the highways it would go 3/4 pressure so it was kinda all over the board. When i brought my car out of storage from winter the oil pressure was very very high on idle with fresh synthetic oil in.
I apologize for the long post but i just thought i would put all the info i could into it and someone with some great advice could help me get my GTA back on the road again.
thanks
