More electrical problems

yesterday i went to move the GTA and everything was completely dead. i left nothing on the night before and it started just fine. only other times it hasn't started was the 2 i talked about before in a previous thread. i still had power to my aux. radiator fan and my door poppers. this time i had power to nothing. battery was at 10 volts when i went to get it tested and charged. alternator is fine.

my other problem is my rear hatch. the motor is stuck down so it won't latch the door. i tried pushing in the claw with a screw driver and everything. i also noticed the motor was very hot.

ANOTHER thing is my headlight motors seem to go whenever they want. almost every time i turn the car off i hear em spinning like they're closing, when they are already closed. ugh!! crazy car! anybody have any ideas?

i also forgot to add that my temp gauge twitches once and awhile. i'll watch it go to 220 then back to 100 and it'll keep doing that. or sometimes it will actually stay. anyone have any ideas what could be going on?

Re: More electrical problems

This is just a shot in the dark, but I'd check the positive stud on the starter solenoid and see if the connection is loose, corroded, or if any of the fusible links are fried. It also might not hurt to check the battery cables, grounds, etc. Occasionally things can LOOK just fine, and when you grab a cable you see it's broken, melted, or otherwise kaput.

Re: More electrical problems

yesterday i took the batt and alt to autozone to have em check it since it's a duralast batt. and only a year old so if anything was bad i could get a new one for free. i took it in and it only had 10v on it. they charged it for an hour and they said it was fine and holding a charge. they cleaned the terminals as well.

so today everything is working well, minus the hatch, which i have unplugged since maybe there was a drain from that because the motor was very hot at one point yesterday. also the headlight motors i unplugged because they come on whenever it seems like. damn electrical!

BTW nice to meet another Drew on the board
