Fuel Gauge Problems

Heres my problem. When I turn my key on, my fuel gauge shows a pretty accurate reading. But when I turn my lights on, it usually slams to below empty. If I turn my dimmer down, as it turns the dash lights out, the gauge returns to where it was. It doesn't appear that anything else affects it. Just the dash lights. I see that the ground circut for the gauge and the dash lights are run together. Could this be a ground problem and should I try grounding the wire coming from cluster? Thanks Larry

Re: Fuel Gauge Problems

sounds like you're on the right track. some of these ground connection get corroded and rusty over the years.

Re: Fuel Gauge Problems

Thanks 1ADan. I imagine that the ground for this was probably mixed in with the harnesses for the computer. That's all gone. Even my gauges do not work. There are no connectors for the sending units. I installed after market gauges instead. I'm going to try grounding it later today. Thanks again, Larry
