Headlight switch retainer?

Not sure what its called, but the cylindrical plastic piece that goes on the front of my headlight switch broke and I cant seem to find where to get a new one. I cant use my headlights since the switch wont stay in place anymore. Does anyone know what part this is called or where to get one? I can provide a pic later if no one knows what im talking about.

Re: Headlight switch retainer?

I've found several of them if you're willing to go down to the Junk yard and take some dashes apart to get them. Not bad practice since you're going to have to take the switch out to remove the broken off thread piece still in the switch anyway. Maybe not a thrill, but it works. I think I've seen some vendors that sell them, but they want like $6 or $7 bucks for them. If I find out which I'll let you know

Classic Industries has them for $7.25, Product #G7643 if you want a new one. Have fun

Re: Headlight switch retainer?

Most of the yards around me dont have cars that old, Ive looked for parts before. If anyone knows where I can get one that would be great. I dont drive when its dark that much, but i do like to drive it to work occasionally and I leave early, lol. I did buy a new switch anyway since it wasnt expensive.

I called the dealer (knowing it was going to be a lost cause) and they said they only showed a "switch assembly" and it MIGHT include the retainer, lol. They wanted $50 on a chance that it might have the retainer. NAPA, autozone, etc, doesnt show anything for it so im kinda stuck unless I can find someone or a yard with one.
