Alternator ******* hotrod cluster****

Okay, I recently got my brothers camaro that he bought before moving out west. My maxima blew up on me (ran it into the dirt because under the hood was scary to say the least) and now I am in possession of this really hawss camaro.

Its all gravy except it has a couple of things wrong, one being the alternator. First let me say that the alternator is extremely easy to change, but that isnt the problem. Its the wiring to and from the alternator. The guy that owned this car before us really, and i mean REALLY, rigged alot of things. It is unacceptable and I am not the kind of guy to let it stand, especially since the way he has it set up seems to "eat"/fry alternators, and the fact that it is failing to charge the battery at all on top of it. Its so bad I have no clue where to begin, and another forums I am on has given me less than satisfactory advice, so I am here to plead for help!

Here is some images of this clusterf*** (follow the white wire)

Can I get a WTF??!?! Does anyone, i mean ANYONE, have any ideas where to begin on this? I spent a few hours today trying to pull the dash to check the wire color, so I could resplice into the original wiring with new -not halfassed- wires.

I am no wiring expert, but I will help as much as I can. If you don't have a service manual, I highly recommend you getting one, the wiring schematics in it will help a lot. The bottom pic you posted looks to me like he wired up the wiper motor. The other pics ??? Has the previous owner installed after market gauges or switches? The red wire to the choke is to supply power to it, but really should be run to a "switched hot" slot on the fuse block. I'd venture to guess the white wire off the back of the alternator is a hot tap to supply power to whatever he wired up, which really should have been run through the fuse block anyway. You probably already knew these things, but it's a start if you don't.
