Cruise Switch to Harness Wiring
Asking advice on this before it gets soldered and shrink wrapped. Car is an 82' Z28 manual. I bought a new cruise switch for the restoration and it came with a short 4-wire 20ga. harness out of the switch but the column harness only has three wires, a brown, a blue and a black. The switch wires are red, yellow, blue and green. Can anyone tell me what wires get hooked together between the two?
From what I can figure on the switch after metering it, green is the common, red is the set switch, yellow is the resume and blue is the feed. What I can't figure out is how does the set switch break (and what) the circuit in this configuration or did I just plain order the wrong switch? Thanks for any help!

Anyone?? I've been searching for the answer for a week and still at a dead end on this. Hoping to get the column back together and in the car this weekend so I can move onto the next of umpteen projects left on it.

Re: Cruise Switch to Harness Wiring
Thanks for the post Drew. I must have ordered the wrong switch. The switch that was in there also had the same 4 wires but they were all chopped so no reference there maybe it had been replaced with the wrong one originally. Here's what my book shows which is a little different.

Brown on my harness is the 12+ so what it's looking like is
Harness Brown wire to Blue on switch (for 12+ common)
Harness Blue wire to Green on switch (for On)
Harness Black wire to Yellow on switch (for Resume)
And then?? Red on switch to Black for set?

Re: Cruise Switch to Harness Wiring
The diagram I posted if from the 1987 manual and might not be correct for earlier cars... I know GM changed the cruise control about 3 times between 82-92. I'd trust the manual for your car above all others. You should be able to test the switch with a DVOM and figure out if it's correct.
