1991 Z28 Seatbelt Chime Never Stops

Just picked up a 91' Z28. Whenever the car is on/running there is a constant tone from the seatbelt buzzer until the belt is pulled out about a foot from the recoiler. I'm just wondering if this is the proper operation for this year/model. I owned a 91' RS about 10 years ago and I don't recall it doing this.

Does it chime when the belt is buckled?

Re: Chime Time

It stops chiming when the belt is pulled out about a foot from the holder... So no, it does not chime when it's buckled. It's just really annoying and I was trying to figure out if this was the stock operation or not. I buckle up every time I drive, but if I go to get out the car to run into a store or something, the passenger is left with a constant tone the entire time I am out of the car.

The chime isn’t even supposed to turn off when you pull the belt one foot.

It’s only supposed to turn off when it’s buckled, however there’s no telling what changes were made in the past.

Otherwise on 91’s it’s proper operation.

Also on your previous 91 there’s no telling what changes were made.

Re: Chime Time

I'd like to add that this isn't a pulsing chime or ding that goes off and on, it's a constant droning, single note that does not stop. Are you sure this is factory? I have never heard another Camaro do this.

Like I said in post #4 however there’s no telling what changes were made in the past.

The question is do you want to restore to stock, or just silence it?

My buzzer doesnt work for my headlights being left on, but i wish it did, my seatbeats make the noise for about 15-20 seconds when i start the car, just as you say one tone, annoying as hell. just like if you leave the key in and open the door or if you leave your headlights on and open the door.

The HEADLIGHTS ARE ON warning not working might be a break in the brown wire from the headlight switch to pin D on the Audio Alarm Assembly which is located ‘Convenience Center’, which is to the right of the steering column.
