i have an 83 cfi camaro. we had a big storm a couple weeks ago and now if i have my subs hooked up the radio will keep turning off so i unplugged them and i can listen to the radio a little louder but as soon as i get to where i can hear it well it cuts on and off. then once i turn the headlights on the radio will not stay on, it will just keep cutting on and off.

Sub-stantial Information

Using a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) monitor the DC input to the radio.

That will let you know if it’s the radio itself cutting out, or if it’s the power to it.

Also it sounds as if the radio is powered VIA the headlight circuit breaker.

If that’s the case remove that connection and wire the radio to it’s own fuse.

How bout those too scared to drive without headlights in the daytime and the ones that need headlights for a little rain

turns out all the problem was that the guy who had to car before me had no grounds from the engine block to the frame. the only ground was the one for the battery...didnt even have ground for the ignition coil. drove for 2 weeks on straight luck.
