High Beams Flicker.

I just did a conversion with the headlights to make them capable for the h4 bulb to turn then bright white not a yellow. they look nice but about after 15 mintutes doesnt the road my Headlights start flickering. I dont have a amp but i have a audio system in it. I have two front speakers and a 8 inch sub in the trunk. What is the problem All i bought was the 4 adapters that go right in the oem Light socket. I'm trying to think if its a altenator i need with more amps or somthing but i dont know. I checked fuses they where fine replaced everyone of them helped but not the flickering.

Thanks For looking at my Question Help would be appricated.

Re: High Beams Flicker.

Have battery and alternator both tested - advance or autozone can do it in the car. My lights flickered, turned out my alternator was charging too much - got a free replacement and it was over 1 year old.

Re: High Beams Flicker.

Too much load for the original wiring/switch. You need a relay harness like one of these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/GRM-01-133/?rtype=10

Re: High Beams Flicker.

One connection goes to power, the other to ground, and the rest just uses a headlight connector and all 4 bulbs.

Re: High Beams Flicker.

Those adapters are for people that just like plug and play. You will only need one of these adapters should you choose to continue using them. What I did was push a very small allen wrench into the front side of the socket on all 3 terminals to bend back the retaining tab and the terminals will come right out of the socket and can be reinstalled into the socket in the correct formation, thus no adapters needed.

Most alternators are sold under warranty. Alternator may not be your issue, but it's only costs 15 minutes of your time to check.

That's one good thing about summit is you get your stuff quick. I actually live within 50min. of one, but sometimes don't want to drive there and provided I order something before like 5pm I'll get it around early afternoon the next day.

Thats cool i wish i lived that close to one but anyway this looks really complicated to wire up i can undertand the relays power and the grounds but after that the hook ups just look out of place and all over

Re: High Beams Flicker.

So there's one power and one ground right? The rest of the connections are 3 terminals each. One of the 3 terminal connectors has male ends and one of your previously bought connectors hooks up with this. The last 4 of the 3 terminal female connectors hook up to the headlights.

Re: High Beams Flicker.

The way you describe the relay harness working, that tells me some wire isn't going where it should be going. The only thing the relay harness is there to do is to make the headlights draw power directly from the battery or wherever you hooked up that power supply for the harness. The only way this would cause additional problems would be if the terminals on the headlight connector were not in the correct pattern. There is a diagram on this site somewhere of what the pattern is, but I'd also think the little adapter pieces you got initially should've corrected any issue here.

Re: High Beams Flicker.

As the set you sent to me i got the prongs where two and three but my headlights went three three not two three the adpaters work though they go two three to convert the right way and easier to run off the lights there not flickering right now i dont now why not with the other adapters but on a full charge battery they do.
