Where to get Wiper Motor PCB Repaired?

I think I need a new cover to my 88 GTA wiper motor (I think the pcb inside the cover is aging poorly, due to the deteriorating wiper function).

What should I look for in the yellow pages in order to find a place that will repair it for me ? (If there is such a place).

Thanks.

If the wipers are still working, there's nothing to be repaired.

Apeiron,

They're not working. No movement on "delay" or "low', and just thrashing around near the bottom of the windshield on "high". They used to work on delay and low, but I had to wait about 3 or 4 minutes for them to come on. Now they never come on in delay or low. They used to work in "high" in the normal way.

I tested it with a test light. I'm getting power into to the cover in low and delay, but the wipers still don't work in low and delay.

It would be nice if it was just the motor going bad, since it's "only" $64. But it sounds to me like the circuit in the cover is going bad.

That's the cover then. It's not serviceable, just replace it.

might be some broken solder joints on that PCB that
could be resoldered-that is how i fixed the same
problem with the wiper motor of a '94 astro van.
Was a very easy repair

The solder looks good. At least from the side of the board I can see. I posted pics of it over on Tech/ General Engine.

And I just noticed the little spring on the motor is just hanging there. The big spring is OK, but there is another little spring in the upper right corner of the motor assy that is attached to a lever on one end, but just hangs there. Maybe that's part of the problem ???

Re: Where to get Wiper Motor PCB Repaired?

Update on the struggle : I put that spring back on where it should be, sealed her up and turned on the key. The wipers went down into park position. Elation.
I then turned the control to delay. On they came, in delay mode. Moved it to low, on they came in low. Moved it to high, on they came in high. Moved back to low, then to off. Wipers went off . Celebrate !!! Life is good. ................ Then...... turned them back to low, and nothing............... on high they worked. back to low... nothing. and they stuck in the middle of the windshield. After about a minute staring at them stuck on the windshield, with the key on, they parked themselves. Back to the drawing board. Maybe I'll take the cover off, and clean the contacts again, which had it working before.

Another update : After driving around for a day, with the wipers in park, I tried them again, and they work fine. I made them go thru all speeds, twice, and shut it off. Hoping for the best.

Re: Where to get Wiper Motor PCB Repaired?

Maybe it's an issue with the wiper stalk itself, casuing this intermittent issue. I mean, it is what tells the wipers to move and at what speeds to move. Just a thought

Norcal,

Thanks. I hear a click near the wiper motor when I move the control to low, even if the wipers don't come on, so it seems like the stalk is sending the voltage down to whatever is clicking, possibly a relay.
