Did this problem just start from out of nowhere or, was it the result of some kind of wiring addition/change inside or, outside of the car ? (eg: adding a new radio or fog lamps). If the side markers light up, your front/rear park lamps should as well since they share a common circuit. Obviously, the rears won't be visible with the brake lamps lit.

If the problem occurred only with the brakes, I'd lean towards a bad ground in the rear light harness (stop lamps are chasing ground through the other lamps).

By 'and am in park', is that with the key just in the ignition or, the ignition in 'run', it's just sitting there with no key... ?

Personally, I'd probably start with pulling the 'door chime' unit out of curiosity and see what happens.

Re: side marker lights

I am not sure when it started as I just bought the car on sunday yes there is an aftermarket raido in it. and the buzzer only sounds in park when I step on the brake with or without the key in it
