All Too Common Firebird Headlight Issue

For the past year the driver side headlight hasn't wanted to pop up all the time, but it does randomly and it did turn on all the time. Now all of a sudden both of my headlights do not light up and do not pop up, every once in a great while they will work and both will pop up, but it looks as though the driver side has a slight delay. I am wondering what the opinion is before I tear apart my other Trans Am to mend the GTA. Pictures would rock to show locations, if not descriptions work as well.

Thanks!

I'd bet that if you tap on yours on the firewall, that will make them pop up, when they don't. Which indicates that that is a "broken" part.

So you can open yours up & look for problems inside yours or just get a "new" (rebuilt) one to replace it.

It could be COMPLETELY dead, if you have been having this problem for awhile.

That module controls up & down. On & Off are separate from the module, so if they still light up & just don't move? The module is most likely the culprit.

Got a buddy that will let you borrow theirs for testing purposes? Swap modules & your car works, but his car doesn't = module is the problem.

Re: All Too Common Firebird Headlight Issue

I have a Trans Am that is just sitting I am taking parts off of so that isn't an issue. The thing I am running into now though is the headlights are not turning on and they are not flipping up. They do go down when when I put them up manually then push the button. This is on a 1988 GTA, I am unsure if I stated earlier. The parking lights, dashlights, everything else all come on as they should.

With Stephen's help we figured out it was the dash switch, kind of a pain in the butt to fix but now the lights work!
