shutting off problem

It is randomly shutting off and resetting the radio memory
sometimes it will not turn right back on and will have no power for a couple seconds and then turn on the rest of the time I will hear a popping through my speakers and it will idle funny and go back to normal.

I have a stereo system in the car with a 230amp alternator and dual batteries and 2g wire from the alternator to both batteries and left the stock wire to the distribution block but that one burned out and its running off the stereo wires. Sometimes when I turn on the headlights it will turn off so I know its grounding out around the distribution block but where?

Re: shutting off problem

I'd start with grounds. Neg batt cable to motor, motor to firewall, fender to neg batt terminal.
