Tach not accurate
What would cause a tach to misread? It says the RPMs are much higher than they really are. Says idle is 3500 and it pins when I accelerate. I have an 89 305tbi camaro. Nothing has been touch recently or changed it just started doing this all the sudden.

Re: Tach not accurate
Mine does the same thing...there are a few threads on here about it as it's a VERY common problem with these cars.
Just do a quick search for "tach problem" or "tach fix".

Re: Tach not accurate
My 89 Iroc is the same way. I also idle around 3500 and pin when I put the gas on. If I drive for a while it sometimes moves down to 2800ish but it typically runs around 3500. I'll ignore it for now, but I'd really like it to at least be in the neighborhood since I'm more or less restoring my car.
