hey all, little problem i am fairly new to thirdgens although my family has had several , my 89 firebird had the pull down hatch although it is now broken, dont worry i am not asking how to fix it i know how to search the forums what my problem is is that i cant seem to find a hatch release switch anywhere not in the console which has no lid or in the non existent glove box which is just a pouch, there is what looks like a place for such a button on the dash an inch or so away from the rear defroster buttons, just wondering if anyone with more technical knowledge of my car could tell me where it is, or if it didnt even come with one, i can open the trunk with the key but it doesnt close all the way, just a convenience and curiosity thing really i apppreciate the help

 

If there is just a blank panel next to the defroster switch where the hatch switch SHOULD be, then your car didn't come with one.

DO you know why the hatch doesn't close all the way? Is that the problem with the motor?

 

pretty sure the little weight thing is gone, cuz its not there, and alot of broken plastic on the trunk floor under the carpet, that and its no longer hooked up, alot of things are no longer hooked up as the car came with a factory alarm that also no longer works , i'd love to get another or fix it or replace it all , really i just want my trunk not to rattle so much
