charging issues
Ok, working with an '84 z28, used to have a CC carb, swapped in an old 350 with a basic carb, so we don't need the the ECM or some of the plugs on the wiring harness (i'm assuming). I 'm also assuming that there used to be a fan relay somewhere that is now gone. The alternator is not charging. We have a new alternator, and a good battery. The alternator has the stud on the back connected straight to the battery. The plug for the alternator has a black and a dark green wire. With a ohm meter, the black one goes to ground (or the gauge?), the dark green one does nothing, no ground, no power key on or off. I found another plug in the wiring harness with 3 male spade terminals, one of which has continuity to the alternator plug green wire. Did this go to the electric fan relay at some point? There was a resister between the two terminals that go into the alternator, the black and green wire. My questions are, what does the resister do, and where do I need to connect the green wire?
