Insturment cluster dies when lights turn on.
Insturment cluster dies when lights turn on.
Hey guys, I just converted my 92 RS 305 TBI to a 350 carb and everything works except when I turn my headlight switch to park or on the cluster dies even when the engine is runngin. Not just the lights on the gages but even the signal it gets from wherever. All the needles drop to zero as if the car was off, but everything else is still working normally. When I turn the head lights back off they work again. Any help would be awesome. BTW I just bought a GM Service Manual (the really thick books repair shops use) so hopefully that will help me a lot because the wire diagrams in the Chiltons and Haynes manuals don't go into enough detail.

Also on the wire diagram when it says "RH Turn Indicator" does RH= Driver side or what? Just need clarification on that because in my mind it does.

Well so far I found that pin 2 on connector C2 behind the gauge cluster is not getting ground like it's supposed to, instead its getting 8VDC. So now I've got some digging to do!

Figured it out. One of the ground wires to the cluster was cut for some reason. Regrounded the wire and everything works perfectly. That GM SDervice Manual really helped!!! I would recommend everyone who is having wiring issues to buy it!

Gonna guess it was the one under the steering wheel coming out of the main loom there. Mine was missing that one too.
