Headlight motor cheap easy fix.

I just had to fix one of my head light motors. The headlight could be pulled up and down so I suspected the gear wheel. However, when I opened it up, I found the nylon gear wheel looking perfectly normal. What was broken, literally in tiny pieces, were the bushings that sit inside the wheel and stop the metal shaft from turning relative to the wheel. You can get a kit that contains the circular bushes but you get other stuff that I didn't need and didn't want to spend the money. So, I got a piece of 1/2 inch wooden dowel, cut 3 7/16th length pieces and chamferred the ends. These fit perfectly in the circular spaces formed between the nylon gear and metal shaft. I can't think of anything wrong with this almost zero cost repair. Anyone else?
PS sorry TDS.

Re: Headlight motor cheap easy fix.

I've known people to cut up hot glue sticks for bushings as cheap fixes as well. Nothing too revolutionary.

I have always used 1/4 rubber hose, not soft hose either.
