Oil pressure sender '84 t/a
Hi all
The oil pressure sender I have is a two wire sender. Can you tell me what wire is what? I'm thinking one goes to the instrument gauge but what about the other? Is that supposed to go to the other connector behind the gauge?
Cheers
Jonno

Where is it located?
Usually ....
If it's above the oil filter, it has nothing to do with the guage.
The sender for the guage is located on the china wall, back of intake, just to the driver side of the distributor - it will only have one wire.
The 2 wire sender is not actually a sender, but a switch - when it senses oil pressure it runs the fuel pump (in the event that the ECM doesn't).
But, your car is carbed, right? So I'm confused as to why there would be a 2 wire oil pressure switch/sender.
What motor, what induction?

Very weird....doesn't look factory. Pretty sure either 87 or 88 and below had just the big single wire gold canister for the oil pressure gauge. And the wire is always tan for the gauge output off the oil pressure sender. Doesn't seem like GM to use two of the same color wires in one sensor. Does your car have the idiot light for low oil pressure by any chance rather than an actual oil pressure gauge? That may explain it since I know not many cars had just the lights.

Howdy.
Nope, it has the actual oil pressure gauge.
The other thing is, I can track one of the wires in the sender to the dash, but the other I have no idea where it heads of to!
I'm wondering if I should basically bypass the stock gauges and buy aftermarket ones. At least for the oil pressure and temp (and get rid of the mechanical one that is installed).

Hi all. Sorry to bring an old thread back to life. Not been able to do much on the car for a long while, but now it's back on the agenda.
Anyway. Are the above pics that I took the correct location for the one wire sender?
I have the gauge not the light. It maybe that when this car was converted to RHD and had engine work done, they installed the wrong sender. Should the bell shaped one fit in it's place? I can't see anything next to the oil filter.
Cheers all.

That's the correct location, and the original bell-shaped sender with a fitting or two to help clear the intake and distributor is a direct replacement for whatever that thing is.

To make it easy to replace the sender use a crowfoot socket which will fit on any 3/8 drive.

Hi all.
Sorry to bring back an old thread, but finally got round to removing the thing that was in the engine.... And whoever decided to put something in the engine decided that it should be a PS155 SPARK PLUG!!!! or something.
