Bad Rectifier?
I'm testing the diodes in my alternator to try and find out which one is faulty and responsible for the low charging voltage coming off the alternator.
Testing the diode trio, nothing seems out of the ordinary. All 3 leads ohm'd out at .500 - .530
Testing the rectifier however, All of the terminals ohm'd out at .450 - .465, but two of them tested with the negative test lead touching the insulated heatsink and the positive test lead touching the diode posts. The only way I could get the third to register was with the positive test lead touching the grounded heatsink and the negative lead touching the diode post. Is this normal, or is the rectifier bad?
