need Help routing the main engine harness...

Hey guys, 6 years ago I ate a rod bearing, and have been VERY SLOWLY trying to fix it. Last winter I got the motor back in, last week the trans got put back in. Now I'm stuck, I do not remember the layout for the harness. Can anyone with a 5.0l TBI please snap some pics of their engine bay so I can get my harness back in? Really like to get her back on the road before the leaves start falling. Thanks ahead of time.

Re: need Help routing the main engine harness...

Harness on driver side, comes out of firewall, and splits (headlight wires to front on driver side by the steering shaft), and main wire harness runs behind motor over top of tranny bellhousing towards pass side. Out of the main harness, before going over the top of the tranny, a green wire exits loom and runs foward to the coolant temp sensor in driver side head between #1 and #3 spark plugs. Also, 3 wires exit in a small loom to the OPSU located above oil filter. Fan relay and fuel pump relay wires also insert into this main loom to route towards pass side.

That's about as far as I can take you, since I've yanked out my ECM wiring.

But the pass side main loom exits from the fender close to the hood hinge, comes between the heater box and the strut tower, where it starts splitting up into injector wires, TPS wires, IAC wires, etc. that enter into the driver side harness until they reach the pass side head, where they come out, over the intake, and to the front of the TBI unit.

Bat POS connects to larger terminal on starter, bat NEG connects to engine block through one of the smog pump or A/C bolts that run through the accessory bracket on that side.

Don't forget groundstrap from rear pass head to firewall and small ground wire from bat NEG to pass fender.

There's alot more, but that's all I can remember off top of my head - hope that helps gettting you a start.

luckily, the factory harnesses only allow enough length to get to the sensors one way. start on the passenger side and walk it toward the center at the firewall. connector locations should start showing you where to take everything. very seldom are there 2 identical connectors anywhere to mix up, so that should make things a bit easier too

Be careful with the knock and thermal fan switch connectors as they are the same. Blue is knock and goes on the lower sensor, DK GRN/WHT upper in the cyl head

Color me stupid, but anyone have engine bay pics? I have the ECU connector and the dash connector... nothing else seems to make sense to me...
