trunk latch solenoid stopped working

so my trunk has that auto pull down thing.

To start, my trunk was down and in the locked position when my battery died and drained to 0 so my car had no power. I happened to put the key in the back and popped the trunk and it opened. Now the solenoid is in the down position because it didnt pop up with no power. Now i cant get the trunk to close at all because the solenoid thing wont come up. Battery is now fully charged

Any advice on how to reset this system would be appreciated

Re: trunk latch solenoid stopped working

This is a power pull-down motor problem, not a hatch release solenoid problem. They are powered on two completely different circuits. First remove the hatch surround trim panel and check that you have power at the red/white stripe wire that plugs into the blue wire.

Hi
So what does one do after finding that the red and blue wire has power. When I re-connect the white connector, the relay clicks but I cannot get the hatch lock to close the hatch.
Can you explain, please.

Re: trunk latch solenoid stopped working

Hi
Another member showed a picture of the small lever on the actual hatch lock that is the switch that trips the motor. I pushed it and all is well now. I will now give the lock slides some WD40 as you recommend. You 3gen guys are awesome!
