Starter Solenoid
Can the starter solenoid prevent power from going to my distributor?
Starter cranks great everytime, but at times I have no juice going to the distributor. Seems to do it when it wants, but always comes back after a while.
I did change the ignition switch, but I'm still getting the problem.

Re: Starter Solenoid
starter solenoid has no control over the dizzy AT ALL. the solenoid only has 1 wire on it, thats comes directly from the bulkhead connector on the driver side and connects via the start enable relay to the ignition switch. it doesnt connect to the dizzy in any fashion. if it does then someone has done some horrible wiring on your car.

BUT - the pos battery cable dos connect to the starter, and all the fusible links off the starter to wherever on the car - so .... doesn't the ignition get power from this in a manner of speaking?

Re: Starter Solenoid
Thinking about it, the battery side of the dis. has to come from the ignition switch. Stupid me, I should have checked the pigtail with a simple light tester, which I did and I do have power to the dis. with the key in the run position. My problem is something is killing my ignition module--slowly. I'm gonna check my coil and the pick-up coil. Any thoughts, I'd like to here them. Thanks P.S. I'm not blowing any fuses

Re: Starter Solenoid
the wires do get power from the starter, but not from the solenoid side. so the solenoid would have no effect on power to the dizzy. the original questions was if the starter solenoid could effect the dizzy, which isnt possible.
