Last piece of rewiring puzzle: How to read this alternator schematic

I know this is a wall of text and I apologize, but please read it carefully. The most important part that I need the most help with is part 4 at the very bottom.

Preface: New carbbed engine, rewiring to get rid of all ECM and unwanted stuff, and to try and see why my alternator keeps dieing. I pulled it all out, and am putting it back in in a very simplistic and minimalist sort of way. I want perfect wiring.

Okay, so I've finally got every wire pulled from the entire car and I have the whole rats nest clipped and sorted and understood.

I'll be able to get it all replaced and running smother than ever with no problem except for this 4 wire alternator. Here is the schematic I found that seems to be exactly for my application...

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/atta...ging-system-v8

I want to get this perfect so here are my questions.

1. Large red battery wire.

The schematic shows it breaking off to deal with the fan, then hitting the positive terminal, then hitting the starter. As long as it connects directly to the positive terminal, which in turn, connects to the starter then this wire is done right?

(2-4 are all on the black connector)

2. Medium red wire labeled "S" on the schematic.

A. Can I just put an inline fuse in place of a fusible link? If so, which amperage?

B. And more importantly, the schematic shows it running to the starter. I'm assuming that as long as this wire connects exactly where the large red battery wire from question 1 connects (to the positive terminal), then this wire is done. Am I correct?

3. Small wire labeled "L" on the schematic.

The schematic just shows this running to the dash voltage gauge, and then "hot in run" coming into the other side of that gauge with a 10 amp fuse. Is this correct?

4. Small wire labeled "F" on the schematic.

This one I am lost on. In my car, this runs to some oval relay next to where the main hub of wires cross though the firewall. This relay also apparently had something to do with the fan before the PO ****ed up all the fan wiring. What do I do with this wiring? Keep in mind that the fan has nothing to do with any of this anymore, I have the fan running off of a simple switch in the cab now and that's how I like it.

Might help
you don't need all the wires

I just got back from the parts store and I was told something interesting.

He said that the medium red wire should be going to a hot in run power source and that since I had it going to the positive terminal, that that is why the alternator kept blowing.

This sound legit?

No.

The
thinner red wire goes to terminal S (the sensing circuit) and should have power at all times.
