I tried to turn on my rear defrost while the car was running and heard a few clicking noises and then my car just died. I have an 84 camaro Z-28. usually dimming lights and clicking noises from the starter indicate a dead or weak battery, or loose or corroded connections, or a possbile ground issue.

since you heard some clicking noises when you turned on the defroster, im guessing something got grounded out and poped some fuses or possbily a fusable link.

Re: Car died!!!! Please HELP!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like you popped one of the fusible links at the starter. Two links feed power to the cabin, one generally for the lights and the other for everything else including the demister.
Since you still have lights, sounds like you popped the second one. Obviously some kind of short with the demister, most likely with the lh hatch strut at a guess.

My car wasn't starting the other day and it was a disconected wire. However my fuel pump was priming and my dash lights came on. Sound like you have a short in your rear defroster wire, and you blew a fuze. Good luck man!

Linked is the circuit diagram for my 86, don't know what year OP's is but it's probably the same. There is no fuse for the demister power, just the pwr acc circuit breaker and the fusible link.
The gauges/accessory fuse could be gone, but I don't imagine it would cause a no-start.

Re: Car died!!!! Please HELP!!!!!!!!!
check the fusable links on the starter. thats step #1 when you loose power to the cabin.
