Check your relays!

For the past few months, my car has suddenly developed charging problems (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...ge-issues.html)

and has also given me a hard time re-starting (it will start immediately the first turn on of the day, but after shutting it off after a short drive, it will take a few moments to full turn over, sometimes needing some prompting from the gas pedal).

While replacing my negative battery cable, cleaning and re-installing all visible grounds and re-splicing anything that had been spliced by previous owners, I happened to notice that my three main relays located on the driver's side firewall (MAF power, MAF burnoff and Fuel Pump) all had issues with the wires being exposed where they meet the black connector.

To solve the problem, I purchased three new relays from my local Chevy dealership: GM# 10038311 / ACD # 15-8333 (about $15.00 each). Next, I went to http://fbodyperformance.net/ (doing business as: 'TPI Parts') and ordered up three new connectors (also $15.00 each) already wired with plenty of length wire!

After a bit of splicing and using butt connectors (waterproof w/shrink wrap) I noticed not only better starting, but also, my gauge finally went back from about 6 to 13! If you are a multiple owner like I am (5th owner) it may be worth taking a moment to check your wire connections.
