Gages: some work, some don't
I just got my car running again after it sat for 3 years in my garage. It runs great for having sat for so long, but now my temp, oil pressure gauges don't work (needle is straight up for the temp gauge even when car isn't running/on) gas gauge works fine & speedo is @ 35 before stepping on gas. Is there anyway to "reset" the gauges or am I doomed to pull the whole cluster to fix?
BTW gauges all worked fine 3 yrs ago.

IDK how, but maybe " lube " the speedo.
For the tach, check the wires for being plugged in all the way & any bare spots.
Check the senders // sensors for other gauges, as well as grounds.
If you have the slightest hint of rodents, unfortunately you may end up pulling the cluster looking for chewed wires.
Two cents, but all I can think of.

Thanks for the reply. Any input is welcome, especially if it is useful. I will start checking wiring. No rodent problems, I don't live in a roof-rat infested area TG.
I did forget to mention the battery gauge works, so list of gauges & current status:
Fuel works
battery works
speedometer works as far as correct speed, just starts at 35mph
oil fails
temp fails
The one I worry about is the temp, this car has never had the tendancy to run hot, but I've been driving a LT1 Corvette for 3 years in AZ so some of you maybe able to relate to why I worry.
Thanks again for the reply.

Re: Gages: some work, some don't
you can test the gauges to make sure they function using a potentiometer. the water temp and oil pressure senders work on resistance to ground. the oil pressure should be something like 240ohms at 0 pressure and 30ohms full pressure. the water temp should be 340 ohms at 100* and 70 ohms at 220*. just disconnect the wire from the sender and hook the corrected rated potentiometer to the wire and move it back and forth and see if the gauge moves accordingly. if it doesnt then its either a bad gauge, or a wiring problem leading to the gauge. if it does, then its bad senders.
