Question about a kill switch

I have a manual harness in my car. I just want to know if I can add a switch to where the button you press with the clutch pedal is. The purple and yellow wires you use to start the car. I was looking to add a switch to there as a kill switch and was wondering if its safe to do so or if anyone has done it before. Also anything I sould look out for if I use it

Thanks

Re: Question about a kill switch

it wouldnt be a kill switch, more like a "have to press while starting" button. adding a secondary button in parallel on the clutch safety switch shouldnt cause any issues.

Re: Question about a kill switch

I just want to add it there as it makes it so much easier to run and the fact is I dont have the clutch switch so this would add some safty to starting it too. Looking for a switch is dam impossible as everyone from my local parts store isnt the right one

Re: Question about a kill switch

so your car doesnt have the clutch safety switch? rock auto has them. $5. its under electrical - relays $ switches, clutch pedal position switch. it doesnt come with the pigtail, so youll need to get one of those too if yours is missing.

Re: Question about a kill switch

I have 4th gen pedals and a thrid gen switch that goes with my 87 harness for the car. Car is a 89 but all the dash wiring was redone for a 4th gen dash swap so I took it all out of the car and took a 87 unmolested harness from a parts car I had

Re: Question about a kill switch

I got it new and the harness pig tail doesnt fit the switch at all. I will take alook again at it but the dash connector is twice the size of the switch where it goes into. This is it here

Re: Question about a kill switch

Im just gonna put a toggle switch in for now and look into replacing the stock switch eventually. The switch I have does fit on the peddles bit not the wiring. I think there was a stock connector between the 2 pieces from what I can remember. Its been along time since I took out the harness

Re: Question about a kill switch

if anyone knows please let me know. For now im gonna cut the stock one off and put it to a pincess auto switch under my seat so it acts as a kill switch. Another place I might try is the ashtray too as its covered up

Re: Question about a kill switch

It might have been home made as thats what it looked like to me. Ill look into maybe extending it with spade connectors to the switch
