ignition switch location
so where is the ignition switch on a 1988 firebird with a tilt column and an automatic? i need to find it for the last step in a little diagnosis i'm forced to do.
you see, yesterday, i was driving, with my car's voltmeter hovering around 13 volts with the radio on, climate controls off, everything fine when all of a sudden, my radio shut off, then a split second later the car died as the voltmeter dropped to nothing. i had to turn the car into an empty lot, smacking a wooden fence with the side of my front end in the process(that will need some work if i ever restore this car), and now the car won't crank with no sound as well. nothing works except for the parking and head lights. the dome and courtesy lights come on when i open the doors, and the dash lights come on when i turn on the parking lights or headlights, but when i put the key in the column, there's no chime, and when i turn the key, nothing happens, regardless of which position the key is in. according to the service manual, this is a problem with the ignition wiring or the ignition switch, and the wiring seems perfectly fine. no obvious burn marks or anything. that leads me to believe it could be the ignition switch itself, and if not then the car will be sent to a professional to figure out what's going on.
just let me know where the switch is at and what it looks like so i can check that out, then i'll go from there.
