No Power to Fuel System
Hello, Im trying to find the source of my problem and havent had any luck. The orange wire at the relay doesnt have any power going to it. Neither does the orange wire at the oil pressure sensor. From looking at the wiring diagram there is supposed to be a inline fuse somewhere that goes straight to the battery to feed the orange wires. I cant find it anywhere. This is on a 86' Trans Am with a 86 tpi harness from a camaro(?). Where should i keep looking to find out why this doesnt have power? Thanks Patrick

I am looking for this connector/fuse. No idea where it is, i cant find it anywhere.

Ive looked for that fuse everywhere and cant find it. I currently have the battery wires from the LG4 harness in it. But i compared it to the TPI one that came with the main engine harness and the only difference is coming from the 20amp fuseable link near the battery on the + wire, there is an extra connector coming from it. It is a black wire. Its the same as the other connector from that fuseable link but the other one is a orange wire. Which goes to the coolant relay as seen in the diagram above. I cant find where the black wired connector plugs into anywhere near the battery on the engine harness. Going by the above diagram, that black wired connector is what powers the orange wires going to the fuel pump relay, oil pressure switch, etc.

I definitely don't see it anywhere. What side should I be looking on with this being from what I believe was a camaro? Because I have my battery on the pass. Side.

Holy crap thank you so much for posting that. I remember seeing that exact thing except it didnt have that cover. Which is why i completely overlooked it. I was under the assumption it was for the fan. Thanks again. I will get out there in a second and put a fuse in it.

Ya, I was thinking it was the connector for the fan. Since my fan has the connector off with just bare wires i didnt really know what its connector looks like. Im guessing now that it is a connector with two big orange wires?

should be 1 orange and 1 red. red side goes to battery, orange side goes to relay, if youre talking about the fuse holder

Then i might still have a problem. here is a picture of what i thought was the fuse holder after you posted that link. Thats all i can find that looks like that. But going by the wire colors that should be the fan motor connector.

The car was originally a LG4. I put a harness in it from an 86 tpi. I got a complete engine harness. It had the ECM harness and the driverside harness for the gauges and everyting. Minus the light harness.

on the 86 tpi harness, the inline fuse under the hood powers the fuel pump relay, the maf relay, the maf burnoff relay, and port b1 on the c1 ecm connector and c16 on the c2 ecm connector.

on the 86 lg4, the inline fuse powered the fan circuit and the fuel pump was run by a fuse in the fuse panel

it could be that its either blown, not in the fuse holder (i dont think what you posted earlier is the right fuse holder, it looks like the one for the fan from the lg4 harness which would have brown wires) chances are youre gonna have to trace the wires and either find that fuse holder. or find the junction for all those circuits and wire the junction to a fuse either under the hood or in the fuse panel. it should be a 20A fuse.

I guess i will just try and kill 2 birds with one stone and trace the orange wire from the OPSU and see where the heck it goes. That way if i find the fuse holder great. Or if i find where they all meet i will just put in a fuse myself.

tracing the wire will get you to the junction, which you can trace those out to either find the holder, or find that its been removed possibly.

The connector you pictured is for the fan. Same type of connector for both, fuel/ECM has red and orn wires, fans are blk/red and blk and blk/ppl and blk

Alright, well the orange wires go into the main big loom of wires behind the distributor. I have a question though. What is this connector? Its got 2 wires both look orange but only one of them goes to the other orange wires. (Anotherwords i used my ohm tester and the one wire tested out a match to the orange wires on the 3 relays by the Driverside firewall and to the OPSU.

Nope, neither one has 12v. Even with the key on. Im thinking that if i dont find where that connection belongs to, to just apply 12v to the side that goes to all the other orange wires for the fuel, OPSU, etc. Of course i will add in the 20amp fuse inline.

Going by your circuit diagram above ,
the fused circuit you are looking for also supplies the 2 continuous 12V supplies to the ECM ;B1 and C16

ECM doesn't have power either. It gets power if I apply 12v to one of the orange wires on that connector though
