Random Wire

Hi, I was putting in a new o2 sensor on my trans am and I noticed a stray wire that isn't plugged into anything and can't find where it's supposed to go.

The first picture shows the wire loom it comes out of. It comes out by the pcv valve. The wire that is to the right in the picture goes to the cruise control solenoid. The wire on the left goes to the a/c compressor.

The next picture shows two of the wires going to the steering box.

The last picture shows the wire I'm trying to connect. It has an actual electrical connector on the end of it. The way it was laying, it was kind of down by the exhaust manifold/oil pan of the engine. I'm not sure if it is supposed to connect to something down there or if it fell down there. Hopefully the pictures help, but if more pictures would help I can take more.

Re: Random Wire

it looks to be for the temperature sending unit for the temp gage in the dash.
look under the exhaust manifold between the spark plugs on cylinders 1 and 3.
the sender may have a spade type terminal or a round terminal on it.
with a spade terminal, it pushes straight on the sender.
with a round terminal, it slides on from the side.
the terminal is pushed part of the way out of the plastic cover. you may be able to push it back in, but it may not hold the connector in or the plastic may break.
if it is for the temp gage, having the plastic cover on it is not completely necessary.

Re: Random Wire

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure because I'm having some troubles with getting the car to idle, so it hasn't really run long enough to warm up. It looked like it moved a little now so I'm gunna say it probably wasn't working before. I've read that there's a temp sensor on each head and the one on the driver's side head is for the temp gauge.

Re: Random Wire

The M/C solenoid in my car has a random connector on it that I dont know where it goes. It's blue if that helps? when I tested it with m circuit tester its a ground. the blue wire goes to the connector and the orange wire goes into the solenoid from the wire over by the a/c compressor. (the orange wire isnt connected to the connector im asking about) I'll take a picture tomorrow to better explain what I mean.
