Ok so I make this fairly clear and everyone knows what the car is, i will post ALL the specks on the car BEFORE i post my issues..

91 Trans Am GT T-Top

OK lets start off with what i did now that i covered the basics of my car. My dimmer switch broke, with the HIGH beams on, so i figured now that my car is legal and road ready i need to fix them.. I took the 2 (on left side of steering column) plastic covers off to get to the dimmer switch rod... The Small black piece shown here (from tech article from here) fell out.. The pin that hold the tilt steering fell out onto the floor as well... I put it back in where it was and went along my way (the pin i am talking about is the one that is in the FAR LEFT (middle) of this photo but i'm sure u all know what im talking about) http://i578.photobucket.com/albums/s...nd/dimmer2.jpg

I put the rod back where it goes.. turned the low beams on and it got dark out.. so i went to put the car in the shop (as the tops leak right now) and hit the key... pump kicked on, 50 lbs of psi... went to start... and crank crank crank crank crank..... Stoped cuz i was puzzled and tryed again... cranked but no fire.. So i pushed it into the shop.. Now I've tested A LOT of stuff with a test light (its all i have) and there is power to... The injectors The Coil The Pump Took a plug wire off, and i have NO SPARK.. so I took the test light to the two white wires that go to the chip reader for the key, with the key in and power on.. i had no power at ether of the two white wires. I need this car running by monday at 4pm (daily driver) ONLY other mod i did was cut off the plug for the stock right front speaker.. and put in a new aftermarket speaker... (i even re-attached the plug to see if that was the issue.. that didnt work)

2nd Issue (NOT on the TOP of my list but ticks me off) Fog lights dont come on.. Tested the wires.. i have power but no lights? and the little green indacator light dosnt light up? What should i trace down?

3 How do i fix the dimmer switch? A found a link but lost it.

4 The Radio has static constantly going threw the front right speaker even when the radio is turned to rears only.. wth causes that? this is why i cut the wires off at the plug and put a new speaker in.. it still dose it so i unhooked the aftermarket speaker till i get a new head unit. Well I think that sums it up..

ALL I REALLY NEED is the car to fire up, as it is my daily driver now, and with my dad useing my truck and my 81 trans am in the processes of being built this is my ONLY ride.. Thanks guys hope someone has the info i need.

 

When you put that rod back in did you bump a wire?

 

Did pontiacs come with vats? If so this sounds like that's what they are

 

I think it broke a wire when the pin fell out n the column flew up and to the right.
Im going to try n bypass the vats.
Yes Pontiac has vats it is the same wireing harness as my 92 Camaro had.

 

im going to guess VATS, had a similar issue with my 90 IROC and bypassing the VATS before the ignition, under the dash solved it.

 

I did more testing with my test light. Took the plug wire off the distributor and I had no power coming from the coil wire to the distributor.. so im sure it took a dump.. so ill pull it off this next weekend and have it tested and I will also be going and getting the resistors for the vats bypass.

 

You could always hotwire it to see if that really is your problem lol.

 

VATS also disables your injectors so have someone crank it for you and see if fuel is coming out of the injectors or see if you can hear them clicking

 

I hot wired the injectors they pump fuel out.. still no fire took the coil wire off and had no spark from the coil. So im going to replace it and see how it goes.from.there.
