Headlight Motors

I also have another issue related to wiring, I posted about this a while back no one responded, I think my headlight motor wiring might be faulty, i hit the switch the headlights come open, then i go to turn my headlights off, and both headlights go down but the drivers side headlight motor continues to spin, i turn off the car, still spinning, i turn on the parking lights it stops spinning, i turn off the parking lights it starts spinning again.....

I am thinking it has something to do with the parking lights but I can't figure it out, another issue I am having is my power mirrors don't work either. Car is sitting at a friends shop till next sunday so I can't do any trouble shooting till then, but if someone could suggest what to do i would literally bow down to them, its beginning to be a pain to unplug the motor wire every time i want to leave my car.

Check your door locks, int. lights, cig lighter. If they don't work you are likely having same issue as I and BluFBdy.

Check out recent posts on this and if that is not the your issue, check out your light control box located under the hook, next to your wiper motor. It will have two wiring connectors going to it.

Re: Headlight Motors

He has a 3-wire 82-86 style headlight motor so there is no Headlight control module (the part that 88 TA GTA suggested to check). If you had the later 87-92 2-wire motors, then yes the module is not working properly. In your case, there is an internal limit switch that shuts off the motor in the up and down position. E-mail me at topdownsolutions@yahoo.com and I'll send you a copy of the troubleshooting guide that I include with the TDS 508210 headlight repair kit for the 82-86 3-wire Firebird/Fiero headlight repair kit.

Thanks, I didn't know they were different, appreciate the info.

Mine started spinning every time I disconnected the battery - I don't recall this happening before. Now they spin when I put on the parking lights (do not raise though) I know they didn't do that previously. Do you think it is a electrical connection or the motors? They seem to struggle opening and close hard.
