speedo

I have a 87 T/A that I swapped motors, I put in a zz4 with a 4-11 rear. My problem is that the mileage meter doesn't work and the speedo is way off but the tach works fine, the speedo doesn't have a cable its electronic can anyone help, I live in southern maryland

Confusing. If you swapped in 4.11's and didn't change the drive and/or driven gears in the trans, the speedo wouldn't read correctly.

so your saying that i need to change a gear in the tranny i had someone do the work for me im not sure what they did

Yes due to the 4:11 gears being higher than your stock gears which were probably 3:42. The gears in tuft's tail shaft of the transmission need to be changed to match the new ratio.

Thanks do I have to drop the tranny or just pull the driveshaft and where can I find that gear

You shouldn't have to pull the driveshaft or tyranny. The device is a 10mm bolt on the drivers side of the tranny tailshaft. Pull the CSS and take that gets off and put the new one on. Replace the vss back into the tyranny and bolt it down. Hook everything back up and test drive brother

If the OP has to swap out the drive gear, he'd have to drop the DS and tail shaft.
