Been having starter troubles (dragging) and I have had a brand new one and a couple re-built. I have several I have played with including 4 PMGR starters but none of them fit. My starter guy had a starter off of a 89 corvette with over 100.000 miles and he gave it to me and I put it on and it is the best starter the car has ever had. I know the corvette went to this gear reduction starter in 1988 and used it through 96 with the lt1 and lt4 cars and I think it is the same starter for tpi cars but this starter (89) is miles ahead of the old huge boat anchor starter the car came factory with. It even sounds good when starting. You can hear the quality and power by the cool sound it makes.
