No power beyond firewall(interior)
I spent a good portion of the winter taking my old 305 out, building a nice new 355 and put it in the car. Cleaned up the engine bay while I was at it. Car was running fine prior to the swap. Now currently I started car up for first time and is running fine but now have some wiring issues. went for first drive and had smoke coming out from under dash, but couldnt see anything burned. smoke stopped and figured what ever it was, was not entirely important and could get back home. A few minutes later the car stalled out and didnt have power to starter. 5-10 minutes later I all of a sudden had power again. Started car back up and continued my way home. about 1-2 miles later car stalled out again and had 0 power. key wouldnt even alarm like all cars do when you turn key forward or put key into ignition even. I get it towed home and look a few things over. Dont see any burned wiring under dash, but know with almost 100% certainty something burned up.. no mistaking burned wiring smell. I have live feed going to firewall but cant seem to get anything under the dash in terms of power. My car is an 86 Berlinetta(digital dash if it matters), and am curious if anyone has suggestions. My next direction is to see if I had power getting to the ignition switch. I have nothing at the fuse panel at the moment. On these cars does the live feed go straight to ignition switch first then to the fuse panel? Or does it go to fuse panel and then to ignition switch? I might run another wire through firewall and try to power up the car that way to bypass any potential problems and give me an idea if its anything particular. I assume if I had power to the ignition switch my problem might be the switch itself but I dont believe that to be the issue as I definitely smelled wiring burning and saw the smoke with my own eyes. Can someone here shed some light and maybe point me into directions I never thought of yet? or at least tell me if I am on the right track? As it stands right now I am looking at the culprit to my keyed power being non existent. Hopefully once I get keyed power again my car will run. I just fearfully need to look over all wiring in car now to make sure any of the new wiring I have already done didnt chafe and ground out somewhere. I do believe these cars had fusable links in them but thought they were all in engine bay and not under dash... Thanks in advance for any help provided. I will look further to see if there are other topics of similar issue on here but havent seen anything come up right away.

Re: wiring woe's
anyone able to tell me what the relay is closest to the side of the car of the 2 that are there??
This relay is grounded but the other wire coming out of it is cut off. Doesn't look burned or frayed but cut..... is this possibly my ignition switch relay??

On my car I have three relay there. The closest to the side is the AC control relay, the one in the middle is the fan relay and the one close to the engine (and outside the metal frame) is the fuel pump relay.

Re: No power beyond firewall(interior)
Mine has a manual fuel pump so I am good there... My engine fan is run from keyed power so looks like that relay is to nothing right now.
As an update I did figure out that the live wire going through the firewall was in fact my problem. On the inside wall the wire had somehow gotten pushed up against another wire and they arced(spelling?) burning the wire and some plastic around the wire. Cut that wire off on both ends and ran it through the firewall in a different spot and solved that problem. Now... unfortunately the car is blowing fuses almost as fast as I can put them in!!!! hanes manual shows that fuse spot labeled as CTSY Anyone have any hints as to where the wiring for that fuse goes?? I'll have to trace it to see if I can fix that issue.
I'm really starting to get impatient with this car!! I've missed 3 car shows already and about to miss a 4th!

Re: No power beyond firewall(interior)
After pulling my dash apart, I remember why I hate automotive wiring so much....I have traced my CTSY fuse to several locations and have not found anything glaringly out of place or burned. I even tried hooking up my gauge cluster and turning key to power and waiting for a while to see if the fuse blows. Its now not blowing. However, I now have a couple of other issues. I have a nice shiny box on passenger side of car that now vibrates when I put key in ignition. A relay is buzzing... I also now dont have my digital dash lighting up!! The gauges are moving but my tach and speedo are not lighting up
Does anyone have a Berlinetta wiring diagram, or one of those relay modules? I'm trying to find one locally just to see if thats what the issue is. I'm trying to find one locally but so far have not come across anything. If I can find one locally just to try it that would be great! I dont even know if this box is even my issue

Re: No power beyond firewall(interior)
ok, so just in case people are still following this thread. I had my dash pulled apart and pulled out any loose and browned wiring. 1 wire going to stereo from fuse panel was burned but had been cut off from stereo a long time ago. End was frayed and as best I could tell was possibly bridging across a few different fuses. Cleaned everything I could up and put dash back together. I drove about 150 kilometers before blowing another fuse. I then went the rest of the weekend without blowing another one. Only thing I can think of at this time is there might be too much current going through that one fuse. I dont know why a CTSY fuse is causing the car to shut off when the fuse pops. But for some reason it has to be tied into keyed power some how. No other way for the car to shut off with no power to anything in the car untill fuse is replaced. Its extremely odd. Not to mention.. I'm not the first person to have the dash off of that car
