Re-wire alternator: help

So I got another alternator for my 92 camaro rs 5.0 305 TBI. The voltage gauge still reads low and I assume the car is running just off the battery. My brother gave me a new high quality wire with inline fuse to replace the wire from the back off the alternator, but he said to make sure I got the old one out so I didn't have a random live wire. The problem is that the guy who had it before me just wired the whole car however he wanted and I can't tell which wire needs to go. There is like a whole **** of them attached to the positive of the battery that was wrapped in electrical tape. I took the electrical tape off and took a picture. If anyone can tell me how to do this that would be awesome.

Thanks,
Dan

PS - got the new alternator wire put in. All fixed, for now at least.

Re: Re-wire alternator: help

Only way to confirm a wire is to separate them individually
and then use a DVM between the Alt terminal and each wire until you find the right one.

But in doing that you prove the Alt to Batt wire is fine so there would be little point in replacing it
Check the alt is actually making power at the alt ( not the batt )

before wasting time on other things
