Everything electrocal dead

I was driving my 92 Camaro RS v8 yesterday, and the car is relatively new to me so while I was driving I for some reason wanted to see if the hazards worked. I turned them on and off and all my gauges died for about a second. I thought nothing of it at the time. I parked and then 2 hours later went to turn on my car and boom, no electricity to anything. No headlights, radio, or anything. The gauges dont even move. Tried jumping it and still no electricity. I checked the leads for the battery and they seem ok. I have no clue what to do. Someone said a fuse in the engine bay but I have no idea where those are. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Re: Everything electrocal dead

Check the fusible links in the wires down by the starter, I bet one of them is shot. They should be red wires with larger black plastic/rubber pieces on them. I think there are 3 of them total (or at least that is what my car had). If the one going to the alternator was still good, that could explain why your car kept running until you shut it off. The car was getting all its power from the alternator and not the battery.

If they're bad it may be a visibly burned wire, or you may have to test the wire's continuity to be sure.

Thank you so much, that was the problem. One of the wires must have been resting on the exhaust manifolds and just got burnt up. Spliced some wire in and itnfired right up. Thanks again.
