Car Alarms... so many to choose from?????
Wanting to buy a good quality car alarm to protect my 1984 T/A. Have been looking at Viper Systems but am hesitant to purchase a system. I want something that will detect glass breakage, warn against being too close to the car, and a tilt/towing sensor. No remote start. Any helpful suggestions or insights???

I do not know what brands are available in your area but Viper and Python are both made by directed electronics and use the same remotes. As far as I am concerned I believe they are the same with different brand names. So if one is cheaper than the other go with the cheaper.
I have heard of Clifford too and it seems to be a good respected brand.

I have a viper alarm on my truck and have been very happy with it. The alarm works good. Just remember that you will need to disable the alarm or shut it off if you will be having someone else work on the car. For me it is easiest just to pull the fuses as the remote turn off does not work very well.
Just one final thought for you. No alarm will totally protect your car. All it can do is keep honest people honest. If they desperately want in the car they will be in even if the alarm is going off. I have had my truck broke into once with it but have had the alarm stop at least 3 - 4 likely break ins. This is discounting anything felt to be a false alarm, trains, wind to hard, something blown against the truck, cats, etc.
I feel it was worth every penny though. I would be willing to buy it again.

I have this cool little device besides my alarm called the "roadkill" and if the driver doesnt disable it, it will kill the engine via starter and blast the horn. totally hilarious when you let your buddy take it around the block
