Voltage regulator or alternator?
I have a 92 Camaro 5.0 motor, I was driving down the road and lately have noticed with the A/C off, radio off, and lights off the volt meter read in between the halfway mark and the second mark (charging low). The past couple of days I had to jump start the battery to get it started and it stayed running but last night the volt meter fluxuated from the bottom mark in the red back to the center red back and forth.
The car died and will not start now.
I'm thinking voltage regulator but it is the original alternator so my question is, is the voltage regulator built inside of the alternator to where if I replace the alternator I'm getting a new regulator, or is it a separate component on it's own?
Thanks

Re: Voltage regulator or alternator?
Another question... To remove the alternator, what size torx bit is required to remove the mounting bolts?
Normally there are bolts but it looks like there are torx screws that hold it on the bracket.
