Help through this hack job wiring
If I knew this car was so badly wired I would of never wasted my money on it. But I did so I have to deal with it now. I'm surprised it hasn't burned to the ground. The previous owner(s) really hacked with the wiring, they cut and spliced a bunch of wires into an alarm system and other junk.
Here is a big yellow wire from a connector on top of the steering column. What is this wire for?
There is also a large connector which has two large yellow wires, and a green/white and small green wire run into it. This is found inside the car. I'm thinking it may be the starter relay. The one green/white wire runs into a little black thing and a purple wire exits that thing and seems to run to the C100 connector.

The connector with two yellow wires, a large green and the other green wire sounds close to the Starter Enable Relay but the green wire isn't right. Though it might just be an inconsistency in wire colors between years, hard to say with GM.

Re: Help through this hack job wiring
It must be connected to the clutch pedal switch (on the down stroke).
The purple wire then continues to the actual starter solenoid.
Hope this all helps.

Re: Help through this hack job wiring
It looks like this purple wire is the B4 cranking signal to the starter. The current performance harness that I have has its own starter relay, but becomes active from a cranking signal from a switch. In speaking... I could cut out this mess of wires, straighten it out and use the purple wire as my cranking signal because it only becomes hot when the clutch is depressed?
That "small black box" with green/white and purple wires is your connector for the clutch pedal starter safety switch (see the diagram I just posted).
It must be connected to the clutch pedal switch (on the down stroke).
The purple wire then continues to the actual starter solenoid.
Hope this all helps.

Sure, if your engine harness does not depend on the purple wire anymore, you can use it to splice into the new harness to provide the cranking signal.
