Thinking of a temporary fix need some opinions and will it work....

Hey everyone I am all ready to drive my 83 z28 but there is just one problem it will not start with the key now all of a sudden. I have been investigating this for a week now and still am not sure what the problem is exactly Battery is good to go, starter is fine and I can jump the terminals to start just fine, also all fuses are ok. I know I am not getting 12v to my ignition wire on the starter but do not know why. So what I was thinking I could do to temporarily fix my problem is wire a push button so I turn the key to turn everything on and then push the button to engage starter and start car. I guess my question is will this work alright for now and what would be the best way to wire it up. I mean if I get a regular push button switch tap one side of it into a wire with constant 12v with a fusible link and then run the other side to the ignition terminal on the starter that should be it right or do I need anything else thanks.....

You shouldn't have that hard of a time tracking this one down... there's a starter relay? And a wire going from the ignition switch to the starter. See if you have 12V there? I don't know if yours is the same. Mine is a purple wire in the drivers side kick panel. There might be a fuse between your 12V and the ignition switch. It's not hard to check fuses.

Hey, if you just want push-button start just say so

Be better to wire it to switched ign on instead of constant 12v, from a security standpoint.

Or you could troubleshoot the problem instead of hacking your wiring - for starters have you checked the p/n switch?

Appreciate the help guys today I went out and gave everything another look and wallah my connection to my starter relay had come undone when I was messing with brake booster. Hooked her back up and back in business
