relay amperage draw

Anyone know off hand what the amperage draw is to close the typical GM relays used for fuel pump, fans, and so on?

I know the cheap square autozone ones used in everything from fisher plows to fog lamps draw about .15A to close.

Re: relay amperage draw

You are in the ballpark, my guess would be up to 0.25 amps.
But if you want a precise answer, you can always unplug one of your relays and measure the resistance across the coil to determine the current (use 14.3 V with a running engine for the calculation).

Hope this helps.

You know.. I should have thought of that... Sometimes I'm just stupid.

Thanks Lou!

Re: relay amperage draw

My pleasure, just trying to help out.
In my country, we have a saying: "more heads is better than one".

What did you find out? I am currently away from all my car toys (in the hospital) so I cannot measure mine. And the wifey sure would not know where to find a relay, how to identify the contacts or even how to measure the coil resistance.
