I just purchsed a 91 camaro rs with a unfinshed carbed 350 sbc swap. While doing a quick inspection once i got it home, i notice there was only one wire coming from the starter motor and the big wire that goes to the battery terminal. Neither are connected anywhere. I am pretty sure i need more than just that 1 wire. can somebody tell me what other wires i need and where they connect to on the starter motor?

 

Later cars had the power feeds direct from the batt ; not the starter terminal as in earlier cars
Should only need the purple wire from key to the starter solenoid terminal

 

are the wires from the starter that feed power to the car needed for the starter to spin the engine over? I have a +cable going to the battery from the starter and a smaller wire that is connected to the terminal closet to the engine. when i connect the smaller wire to the battery nothin really happens. The starter makes a noise like the gear is spinning but not coming out and conatcting the flywhel

 

That would indicate that the starter is faulty
