gear selector switch wires?
on a 1991 TPI firebird with an automatic. On the factory shifter, the neutral safety switch has 6 wires....
I was able to find 4 out of 6 in the GM manual. The tan and purplish pink wire (heavier) are the neutral safety circuit.
The thinner green and blue are the reverse lights...
But what is the last set that is orange with black stripe and black with white stripe? This would be pins 5 and 6 in the switch.
I am in the process of installing a B&M pro stick in the car and I was wondering what to do with the black and orange wires. I have read that it controls some idle functionality to the ECM, but I am running a DFI 6 in the car so I am guessing I can just leave these wired alone?
Thanks for any help or advice.

Re: gear selector switch wires?
You read correctly that the orange/black wire supplies a neutral signal to the ECM.
If your computer does not need that input, you can leave it alone, yes.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the reply. Just wanted confirmation before I blew up the car with that wire.
