Battery won't go passed 9 volts

So tell me if this is the alternator. I was driving my radio and interior lights shut off on the highway. Car started to die but kept going until I slowed down and stepped on the brakes and it just cut off. Had a friend come jump start me but it would not start. So I got the car home decided to change the starter because it started to go anyway. I bought a new battery and put in the new battery the car started. Drove it around 3 times yesterday put about 10 miles on total. Car started everytime. Voltage stayed at 9 the whole time. I figure change out the alternator I had an extra alternator from when the guy sold me the car (a used one) Decided to throw it in. No change in voltage, possibly this one can be bad too. Now I decided to go through a few starts and finally now the battery power has cut off. Time for new alternator? If the alternator was bad wouldn't I still be able to jump start the car or no?

9 volts could mean dead cell. Have the battery checked by who ever you bought it off of.

Tried 3 different batteries all the same. If I put the a/c battery charger it will go to 12-13 volts

Would this fit my car? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Alternator-S-10-BLAZER-S10-Pickup-Jimmy-Cutlass-S15-Chevy-Olds-Firebird-/370672241181?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1992|Model%3ACamaro&hash=item564dc98a1d&vxp=mtr

It looks just like this. I have a 5.7 TPI

Re: Battery won't go passed 9 volts

Our cars are 12 volt but the alternators usually run at 13.5 or so to keep up and add a little for the battery. If your gauge reads 9 volts then you alternator is not doing its job. I have been through a million CS130s and I finally changed to a CS144 and everything works properly now. CS130s are junk. I have bought them from autozone, NAPA, powermaster, and more than one custom job with extra high output and even chrome but everyone of them broke. They all break but mine broke within a year. The CS144 has lasted 3 and still going strong.
