I use 4g, no issues but that is becasue I ran a 6g from the alternator all the way back to the battery also. You should be fine with 2g if you have the alt connected to the starter/2g wire

Personally I think a little on the small size in regards to batt current and voltage drop over the distance ( assuming you are using it for the starter)
AWG 2 is only 6.5 mm ( 1/4" ) dia wire

there are a lot of trunk mounted battery cars ( mostly european ) I haven't seen any using 00 wire. It wont hurt anything but def makes the project more expensive. If you have a high quality 1 or 2 gauge that should be fine, just make sure the ground is good. or you can always default is bigger is better!
