Will my stock rodchester carb work? If i get rid of the computer does this affect the gauges ( oil ,water, batt and their warning lights). LOve this forum and all your help!!

Re: Losing my computer

i ditched the computer and removed every wire passing through the hole in the back passenger side of the engine compartment by the ac stuff.

Just leave the yellow 4-out buffer thing in place and relocate the ground for it, black with white stripe wire. And reconnect the brown wire that does something with the alternator.

Re: Losing my computer

Do you know what the computer controlled, just the smog equipment? I'm thinking of removing mine also but will be using my 1984 Z28 as an everyday commuter in Florida so I would like the AC, radio, power windows, etc. to work.

Re: Losing my computer

Use studs instead of bolts to attach the bellhousing to the engine. Makes lining things up a lot easier.

Re: Losing my computer

I too am doing the same thing to my 87. I have to clean up under the dash and figure out what wires to get rid of on the harness to the engine bay. Putting in an 350 as well.

Re: Losing my computer

Yours looks like you had it totally part . Mine was almost perfect except for a dirty engine compartment and a small leak at the water neck. Now i took out the motor just to detail it. It had 66,000 on it and ran perfect. don't want to put back in a used motor and well you know where it goes from there. I think it's a decease!!!!
